Toshiyuki Kita "Wink" Lounge Chair for Cassina, Italy, circa 1980Automaton Vintage Furnishings
Playful and versatile, this "Wink" chair by Japanese designer Toshiyuki Kita for Cassina will add a little humour and fun to any space. This adaptable lounge chair is a fusion of an ergonomic car seat and the infamous Silhouette of Mickey Mouse.
Kita's design allows for this chair to transform into a fully reclining chaise longue. When in the armchair position, the knobs at the side release the back to make it easily adjustable, enabling it to move back and forth to either recline or sit up straight. The headrest is divided into two parts, providing the Mickey Mouse ears to the piece which can both be adjusted independently by flipping them back or up. By tilting the base forward the armchair converts into a fully extended daybed, allowing for those seated to lay back and relax. The "Wink" chair is upholstered in incredibly soft and supple black and white contrasting leather which is in great shape and extremely comfortable.
This whimsical lounge chair would be a great addition to a Classic or contemporary living room, den, family room, man (or woman!) cave, office or bedroom. It would also be an Apt choice in a corporate, retail or hospitality location such as a boutique hotel lobby, cocktail bar, members club, workspace studio, executive office or in a luxe clothing emporium.
Please note: Devo, the matching Chihuahua, is not included in the sale and is photographed with the chair to provide a sense of size and proportion. She is 10" tall not counting her ears and 17" long not counting her tail.
