Tandem Sling by Eames for Herman Miller, Restored in Edelman Leather, circa 1962Automaton Vintage Furnishings
Ray and Charles Eames were commissioned to design the perfect utilitarian seating for the first international airports in 1962. Created for comfort and convenience, this iconic chair has never before been redone with such luxury in mind.
We created a three-seater, a two-seater and two singles to match, available exclusively at our store. This jet age armchair settee or bench with cushioned sling seats and backs, are upholstered in a supple, soft, blueish grey, leather that resembles a soft suede from world-class producer Edelman. They are finished in a grey with greenish tint hair-on cowhide armrests and the aluminum frames have been restored and polished with a satin finish.
For the modern-day eclecticists and discerning collectors, these pieces are heirlooms from the generation of the jet-set elite. They would be a fantastic addition to a professional environment, such as; an office, lobby, or waiting room. Or in a residential setting as part of a hallway, man cave, foyer, living room or games room.
