Dali is considered one of the most collected artists today, and his works offer an incredible opportunity for enormous appreciation in value. Many of his works are held in prestigious museums, private and public collections world-wide. Dali produced lithographs of his famed surrealist masterpieces in limited quantities, in addition to his original works. This lithograph was created from the original painting authorized and signed by Dali for the Dali Museum and A. Reynolds Morse contract in 1971.
This lithograph on Japon archival paper is entitled "The Discovery of America by Christopher Columbus" and is signed by the artist himself at the bottom right hand corner of the piece. Dali paints himself at the bottom of the canvas as a monk, holding a crucifix. Columbus is holding a banner with the image of Gala as the Virgin Mary.
