Cousin to Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret has in recent years become a revered figure in French and Indian architecture. Jeanneret was an instrumental part in the construction of Chandigarh, the first planned city in India. In addition to buildings, he also designed furniture for the region that put a modern spin on traditional carpentry techniques. In addition, he collaborated with Charlotte Perriand and developed prefabricated housing with Jean Prouvé.

Literature: Le Corbusier Pierre Jeanneret: The Indian Adventure, Design-Art-Architecture, Touchaleaume and Moreau, pg. 374 and 569

These chairs exude a rustic yet minimal vibe. Sturdy, angular solid teak combines with caned backrests and a thin, upholstered seat cushion for comfort. Perfect for any Mid-Century Modern or contemporary or Minimalist abode. While Jeanneret may not be a household name yet, his designs continue to grow in popularity and rarity as galleries around the world dedicate space for this lesser known, but equally influential cousin to Le Corbusier.

In excellent previously restored condition, ready for immediate use in your residential or commercial project.

Provenance: Central University Library and the Yacht Club, Chandigarh, India.
