Large Cityscape Skyline Oil Painting, by Dietrich Grunewald for Van AmstelAutomaton Vintage Furnishings
Dramatic interpretation of an urban city skyline against an ominous looking upper atmosphere by Dietrich Grunewald for Van Amstel of California, circa 1960s.
The skyscrapers of this city highline have been clustered together in predominantly dark broody colors punctuated by splashes of ocher, rust, umber, russet and lapis. The slender outline of a red bridge can been seen connecting the two fragments of the city contrasted by a wash of gold directly behind it. The moody, stormy looking sky is blended with washes of russet, gold, terra cotta with highlights of silvery white and barely visible navy. In the bottom right hand corner there is the artist's signature.
This climactic piece would be a powerful addition to any setting such as, a above a dining room credenza, hallway recess, centrally placed in a living room, above the fireplace in the family room or behind an executive desk in an office. It would also be great in a hospitality, retail or corporate location, such as a boutique hotel lobby, cocktail bar, members club, workspace studio, CEO's office or in a retail shop.
