*SOLD* Iconic ''Emmanuelle'' Sylvia Kristel Wicker Rattan Peacock Chairs, circa 1970Automaton Vintage Furnishings
Looking to jump on the boho bandwagon? Or perhaps you're familiar with the cult film by French director Just Jaeckin "Emmanuelle"? This iconic chair design was featured on the poster for the film with Dutch actress Sylvia Kristel as Emmanuelle draped half nude over one of these peacock chairs.
These statuesque peacock chairs originate from India and are fabricated entirely from woven rattan to create a regal lounge chair that would be a show stopper in any space. These elegant chairs are punctuated with strands of black lacquered wicker which make the intricate woven details 'pop' against the neutral tones of the rest of the chair. These aspects can be seen in particular on the arms, around the curved backs and on the bases. Also seen on the backrests are decorative black contrasting chevrons around the rim, adding more visual interest to the design. The chairs both have what appears to be the original circular seat pads in a very midcentury punchy floral design. These are in good condition and can be used as-is or as a template to fabricate new ones to your specific requirements. These would also look very decadent with a Mongolian sheepskin thrown over the seat to add a little bit of luxury.
Measurements: 61.75" H x 46" W x 23" D
seat height 19"
seat depth 21"
Both chairs are in good original vintage condition and signs of wear and use commensurate with age are evident on both. One chair shows slightly more signs of use than the other. Though both have minor breaks in the rattan, one is slightly warped on the seat back. These chairs are vintage and therefore the rattan is very delicate, we do not recommend using this in high traffic commercial applications.
