Giuseppe Scapinelli Caviuna and Wicker Dining Chairs, Eight, Brazil, circa 1950Automaton Vintage Furnishings
Newly imported from a private collector in Brazil, these extraordinary dining chairs embody the use of curvaceous lines and soft shapes that Scapinelli was well-known for. These sculptural dining chairs have been recently lacquered and are fabricated from Caviuna (Brazilian Rosewood), which displays much movement and contrast in color. The seat of these chairs feature a subtly curved back with a double-wicker backrest (a rare feature that add's a hint of elegance and old world craftsmanship) and the seats are upholstered in a medium tone brown leatherette with undertones of olive.
This stunning group of eight chairs could be used together or individually around the home as part of a classic or contemporary dining room, living room, kitchen, family room, office or bedroom. They would also be an apt choice in a corporate, retail or hospitality location such as a boutique hotel lobby, cocktail bar, restaurant, members club, workspace studio, conference room or executive office.
