A handsome and well cared for example of the Billy Wilder chaise longue by Ray and Charles Eames for Herman Miller. In soft and supple high-quality black leather on a charcoal grey base. This example produced in 1988, with attached Herman Miller label underneath, is in excellent condition. Comes with a single loose bolster pillow that can be used for the head, under the legs or feet of the napper.
While Wilder was filming on location he would take short naps on a plank held up by sawhorses and approached his friends the Eameses to design a narrow office couch. In 1968 the Eames chaise was introduced, giving the first one to Wilder.
This sender bench features six foam cushions upholstered in the original high-quality black leather with fabric sling which sits atop a sculptural frame and base. The chaise daybed comes with an additional loose slender lumbar pillow to support back, neck, or legs. The chaise features a gently sloping frame which supports the body in a relaxed, restful position, with the head and legs slightly raised.
Measurements: 30.5" H x 77.5" W x 18.25" D
Excellent vintage condition. Some signs of light patina on the leather and some light marks to frame. Signs of use commensurate with age are evident.
