*SOLD* Barcelona Lounge Chairs by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for Knoll International 1985Automaton Vintage Furnishings
This pair of Barcelona lounge chairs by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, both with Knoll International labels and one dated July of 1985, are one of the finest we've had in years. From the rare color combination, to being signed authentic and dated, and its gorgeous condition - these Fine examples are the perfect choice for the demanding connoisseur client.
The thick, soft and supple burgundy leather is fabricated from a single cowhide with each individual panel being cut, hand-welted and hand tufted with leather buttons. The leather straps are a deep rich burgundy, which contrast beautifully with the burgundy on the seat cushions and are attached with aluminium rivets.
Considered to be the epitome of modern design, Mies van der Rohe and Lilly Reich originally designed the Barcelona chair in 1929 to serve as seating for the king and queen of Spain in the German Pavilion. This was Germany's entry for the International Exhibition, hosted by Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain.
Whether you're looking for a piece fit for royalty or are adding to your modern design collection, this pair of iconic chairs stand the test of time. These lounge chairs would be a great addition as part of a Classic, contemporary or Mid-Century Modern living room, den, man (or woman!) cave, family room, office or bedroom. They would also be an Apt choice in a corporate, retail or hospitality location such as a boutique hotel lobby, cocktail bar, members club, workspace studio, executive office or in a luxe clothing emporium.
