Adrian Pearsall Brutalist Coffee Table for Craft Associates, circa 1960Automaton Vintage Furnishings
Brutalist style coffee table by Pearsall for Craft Associates. This coffee table is fabricated from pewter colored cast resin featuring Pearsall's signature etchings carved into the drum base and is topped with a broad, circular smoked glass surface. The Paul Evans-like engravings on the drum base are a fantastic example of Pearsall's unmistakeable embellishments and illustrative of the Brutalist movement, with an array of coarsely inscribed ornamentations including star-like motifs, uniformed lines and ridges, arrows and a crudely formed yet delicate flower surrounded by an oval frame. This drum coffee table can also be used as a side or end table with the glass removed, allowing for different occasions and moods.
This eye-catching piece would be a great addition as part of a classic or contemporary living room, den, man (or woman!) cave, family room, office or bedroom. It would also be an apt choice in a corporate, retail or hospitality location such as a boutique hotel lobby, cocktail bar, members club, workspace studio, executive office or in a luxe clothing emporium.
