*SOLD* Pierre Jeanneret Chandigarh Easy Armchairs, Set of Two, 1950sAutomaton Vintage Furnishings
Cousin to Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret has in recent years become a revered figure in French and Indian architecture. Jeanneret was an instrumental part in the construction of Chandigarh, the first planned city in India. In addition to buildings, he also designed furniture for the region that put a modern spin on traditional carpentry techniques.
These chairs, originally crafted as part of the project in 1955, exude a rustic yet minimal vibe. Sturdy, angular teak combines with caned backrests and a thin, upholstered seat cushion for comfort. Perfect for any Mid-Century or minimalist abode. While Jeanneret may not be a household name yet, his designs continue to grow in popularity and rarity as galleries around the world dedicate space for this lesser known, but equally influential cousin to Le Corbusier.
